In 2019, Mason dove into “a new wave of wellness” -the NEW Mason Municipal Aquatic Center!
Kathy led the charge to bring over 900,000 gallons of family fun, wellness and world-class competition to Warren County with Mason’s unique public amenity that will benefit our region for generations to come. Enhancing Warren County as Ohio’s Largest Playground: A Win-Win Swim for Local Taxpayers and the Region: For years Mason’s aquatics facilities were under-serving the public. Kathy initiated a careful cost-benefit analysis of the capital and operational expenses of adding a 50-Meter pool instead of replacing our old leisure /25-M pool combo to the proposed new pool construction in Mason. Our study revealed that repairing the current pools built in the 1980s could cost almost as much as building a new one and that tangentially adding an enclosed, year-round 50-M competition pool on the campus was substantially less costly than building one at another time and place. We also learned that by adding the capacity needed to expand our current wait-listed programming, we can execute business plans that will generate revenue and off-set the additional operating costs of the new competition pool. Hosting regional meets, land races and events at our new Aquatic Center will promote tourism and generate revenues for local businesses in Warren County. Get more information on MMAC.
