GOVERNMENT TRANSPARENCY AND ETHICS REFORM
Kathy Grossmann authored and passed Charter Amendment Issue 14 in 2021.
Issue 14 requires Mason Councilmembers, related staff and counterparties to certify in writing there are no conflicts of interest on real estate transactions.
Prior to Issue 14, taxpayers relied on “the honor system” for politicians to comply with state ethics laws while negotiating public real estate transactions behind closed doors. |
Issue 14 protects tax payers so that Mason’s public real estate transactions are transparent, ethical and above reproach." Kathy worked to bring ethics reform to Mason for three years. When Mason voters finally got the chance to speak to Issue 14 on the ballot, they agreed with Kathy.
